DETAILS
Join the Louisa County Historical Society for a crash-course in the process of preserving historic structures and landmarks. Architects, restoration specialists, and a liaison from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources will be on hand to discuss all aspects of listing a structure on the National Register of Historic Places. See first hand what preservation looks like in Louisa County with a tour of the Shady Grove Rosenwald School. Built in 1925, Shady Grove served as an African American school prior to desegregation. In 2009, it was listed on the National Register and painstakingly restored by the community.
